More about IELTS

How does IELTS work?

The IELTS test takes place in four separate sessions: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The first part tests your listening comprehension of English and lasts 30 minutes. The second part tests your written comprehension: you are asked to read texts on different topics and then answer a multiple choice question. This test lasts 1 hour. During the third part you have to write a text in English. You also have one hour to do this. Finally, the fourth part tests your oral expression in English for 10 to 15 minutes. This takes place in the presence of an examiner: it is a short oral interview.

How is IELTS graded?

You will be given a mark for each of the Listening, Reading, Wirting and Speaking tests. The final IELTS score is the average of these four scores. It is this score that certifies your level of English language proficiency. In order to obtain the best possible score, Wall Street English offers its students specific training.
